The Foolish Lion & Clever Rabbit

The Foolish Lion & Clever Rabbit

A big lion lived in a cave. He used to kill many jungle animals every day. All the animals of that forest trembled with his fear. Once all the animals decided to talk to the lion about this matter. Some elected representatives of the animals went to the lion. When the lion saw him, he was filled with wonder. All the animals bowed down to him. Then one animal pleaded with folded hands, “You are the king of this forest. You kill many animals for your food every day while your stomach is filled with one animal”.

The lion roared and asked, what can I do? All the animals pleaded, My Lord, “Don’t bother for food. We will send an animal to your service every day for your food”. Your food will reach your service on time every day. The lion thought for a while and said, if you guys have the same desire then it is okay. Keep in mind that there should not be any relaxation in this rule.

After this, one animal was sent daily to the lion’s service. One day a rabbit came to go to the lion. The rabbit was intelligent. He thought in his mind, now life is not there. Then why should I try to please the lion? Thinking this, he sat comfortably on the well and started resting. Thus it was too late for him to reach the lion. When the rabbit reached the lion, he was upset due to hunger. On seeing the rabbit, the lion roared loudly and said, “You are such a small rabbit and have come so late?” Tell me, why did it take you so long? The rabbit trembled with artificial fear, “I have nothing to blame, My Lord.

We two rabbits were coming to serve you but a lion stopped us on the way. He caught me. I screamed, if you kill me, our king will be angry with you and take your life. He asked, “Who is your king?” I told your name on this. Hearing this, the lion was filled with anger and said, “You lie. On this, I said no, I tell the truth. I am not making any excuses. You should take my partner hostage. I will bring my king to you for your satisfaction. The lion’s anger increased after listening to the rabbit. He roared and said, “Come on, show me where the evil one lives?

Rabbit rushed to a well carrying the lion and said, “My Lord, it looks like the lion has hidden in its fortress. The lion asked,” Where is his fort? “The rabbit showed the well and said,” My Lord, This is the fort of the lion. “The rabbit himself stood on the wall of the well. The lion also climbed over the wall. The shadow of both appeared in the water of the well. The rabbit said to the lion,” My Lord, see he is my companion. Your enemy stands with him. The lion saw both of them and roared loudly. His voice echoed and came out of the well. So, all was set. The lion was filled with anger. The foolish lion jumped into the well to catch his enemy and drowned there.
